If/When all hell breaks loose and all electronics stop working we will all need to brush up on two things: Morse Code and Flag Signaling. Just saying...

Not to sound blasphemous, but oh HELL yeah! Put the Pledge of Allegiance back in schools, dang it! Think of it this way: Does it make sense to push kids through the public education system w/o the Pledge of Allegiance regardless of whether or not they exit that system with basic proficiency in critical things like mathematics, the written word and the spoken word... and then solicit them to enlist in the military as pretty much their ONLY way to eek a decent living out of the world... where they will then REALLY pledge their allegiance to the United States by potentially putting themselves in front of a bullet, in the range of a bomb, downwind from a chemical weapon, etc. in DEFENSE of the United States of America?

No, it does NOT make sense. Argue if you want, but it makes no sense to not pay homage on a daily basis to the best country on Earth for so many people. This country may have its flaws, sure, but we really doubt that not having its youth grow up w/o an appreciation for the benefits this country has afforded them will do this nation any good.

As much controversy as this symbol/flag causes, the fact that it represented important ideals -- FOUNDING ideals of the entire country and NOT just the South -- should not get swept under the rug.

Now don't get us wrong. Ignorant bastards have perverted the meaning of the Confederate Flag through skewed educational practices, deliberate acts of violence, bigotry and just generally acting like idiots -- while waving the Confederate Flag around as their banner.

It takes only one moron to ruin a party and more than one moron has used the Confederate Flag to hide behind while committing heinous crimes, displaying unbridled bigotry, delivering hate-filled sermons, behaving in senseless manners, and conducting themselves in ways that the Founding Fathers of the Confederacy (and this Nation) would spit on if they had the chance.

Don't hate the flag... Hate the people who use it as an excuse do things.
